"Famous cemballo player of the 20th century, Dumitru Marinescu-Ciuciu
had a talent apart, he was an exceptional cemballo player possessing great
technique and expression.
Having an exceptional memory, Dumitru Marineseu-Ciuciu was a good keeper of old folk and dance songs of the folk music repertoire of Wallachia,
Oltenia, Dobrudgea and Moldavia. He consistently nurtured original gypsy music which he took over from the great forerunners of the genre, such as
Sava Padureanu, Cristache Ciolac, Nicolae Buica and Grigoras Dinicu, with
whom he held concerts Vienna.
As an exceptional cembello player, he attracted many young artists who wished to improve their skills..."
