"The last decades of past last century saw the famous duo Gabi Lunca and lon Onoriu promoting, to the delight of the public, the beauty of gypsy music of folkloric origin in the concert halls and stadiums! For those of us who love gypsy music and its grand beauty and variety, Gabi Lunca represents a landmark among the well-known singers of the genre, such as Romica Puceanu, Constantin Effimiu, Dona Dumitru Siminica, Fanica Luca and Gheorghe Lambru. This small universe of gypsy music is unique, unmistakable and irrepeatable due lo the interpretation style that makes use of improvisation, such that can be performed only by singers with outstanding voice qualities. The song lyrics hint to the mast varied themes - as they ail are singer songwriters; these are some of the characteristics that defined the personality of such great singers of gypsy music. Gabi Lunca and her unmistakable voice pass from one mood to another with the ease only great performers possess; her repertoire encompasses songs inducing meditation but also drinking and joy songs as expression of great joy and love.

'Gabi Lunca was born into a musicians' family in Varbilau commune, Prahova County. She was motherless when she was only 3 years-old, a misfortune that was to mark her entire childhood and later on, was to turn into a boundless love for children. She has been singing since she was 13, first with her father, a remarkable violinist, at the same time serving her apprenticeship alongside the folk music orchestra of the worker's club in Baicoi.
