Jon Onoriu on acordeon accompanied by his own orchestra and others. On the last few tracks he is joined by singer Gabi Lunca. These recordings are from the archives of Electrecord, Romania.

Extract from sleeve notes:
 lon Onoriu (1937 - 1998)
"Young lon Onoriu nurtured a strong desire to develop his own style as he had the opportunity to listen to radio or TV folk music shows that aired famous artists such as Marcel Budala, Ilie Udila, Todor Marcel, Nicolae Florian, etc. and later Bebe Serban and Sile Pandelescu. The folk streak lon Onoriu started from was the decisive factor in his development
of a personal style to which he added the improvisation, characteristic of gypsy music...

In 1965, he married Gabi Lunca, with whom he made a nice family and formed a famous couple in the wonderful world of gypsy music. Years of intense work followed but also of success: he recorded 14 LPs at the Radio Society and the Electrecord Studios...

In his last years he made his own orchestra with famous players, of which we mention the well-known cimbalom player Toni Iordache, an orchestra with which he made Radio and TV recordings.

The album consists of 20 instrumental pieces, round dances, girdle dances, etc. equally beautiful. I mention here "Hora de la Fintinele" [The Round Dance of Fintinele], "Hora de la Bilciuresti" [The Round Dance of Bilciuresti], "Maneaua florareselor" [The Song of the Florists] and last but not least "Jalea tiganul [Gypsy Man's Grief]. The three songs interpreted by Gabi Lunca hold a special place in the CD; "La putul cu salcie" [At the Fountain by the Willow Tree], "Trenule, cand ii pleca [You Train, when You Leave] and "Pe drumul batut de piatra" [In the Stone-Paved Road], enriched the atmosphere of gypsy musical background..."
