Primasok,
Erdelyi es Moldvai - Musicians
from Transylvania and Moldavia
Various Artists
(ED-CD 019)
'The
best Transylvania compilation released so far - a triumph'
Songlines magazine
These
recordings were made in Csikszereda, Transylvania. It is here that each
year there is a gathering of the master musicians, the 'Primasok', who
come together and play. They travel from villages in Transylvania and
Moldavia. It is these musicians that are the source of the music for many
other folk ensembles. Includes the legendary
Transylvanian violinist 'Neti'
Sandor Fodor and his son on track 4.
The Editor’s aim was to give a complex, yet varied picture of that
unbelievably colourful culture which will sink into oblivion very soon in
this part of the world.
