Yet more from the excellent series or archive recordings of traditional
folk music released by the Hungarian label Folk Europa.
From record label:
"Magyarpéterlaka is one of the most significant musical centres in the Upper-Maros region. Not only did the best cimbalom players emerge from here, but this
vicinity is also the home of Aladár Csiszár, possibly (beside János
Zerkula) the last important Transylvanian prímás (lead violinist) of our age. It is no wonder that the choice for the next release in our series has fallen to the music of this area. However, it is not
Aladár who is featured on this album, but rather „Crazy” József
Lunka, with whom Antal Fekete and his colleagues also made outstanding recordings.
József Lunka (b. 1918 – d. 1982) enjoyed as much popularity as a prímás in the Nyárád Valley as in the Maros Valley, and he was a particular favourite in Magyaró. He brought up his five children to be musicians:
Jóska and Karcsi both became lead violinists, Rózsika and
Aladár accordion players and Albert a viola player."
