Goran Bregovic
'Underground'
(5289102)
Music inspired and taken from the 'Underground', a film by
Emir Kusturica.
To many the soundtrack to "Underground" represents the best work by
composer Goran Bregovic. The film work of Emir Kusturica,
once again inspires Bregovic to draw on his Yugoslav identity and that
countries conflicts. The splendid track 'Ausencia', interpreted by Cesaria Evora
is irresistible, as is 'Underground Tango'. Inspired by the popular music of Bregovic
and the traditional music of Cape Verde and Bulgaria.
'Cosmopolitan and disparate, Goran Bregovic already recorded with the Polish singer Kayah, Iggy Pop,
Cesaria Evora, Ofra
Haza, the crooner shifted Scott Walker or George Dalaras. Influenced by the Balkan brass bands, the melodies without wire nor net of Ennio
Morricone, the boilings of punk and the tango, the interlacings Eastern and the songs gipsies entonnés at the end of the meal,
Bregovic is a frontier runner which fixes on the tape of instantaneous musical of a rare intensity.'
