Special offer #6: Three Eclectic Music CDs:
Audio CD: Kiss Erzsi Music - Kinono (EKEZ04)
Described as having an eclectic blend of ethnic musical influences Erzsi
Kiss and her band have an enthusiastic following in their Hungary. It can
only be a matter of time before this spreads beyond that country's borders.
"The music can be a little bluesy, a little jazzy, a little Serbian, a
little Russian or Arabic, we can play and travel as much as we want, because we
have no language restrictions. Human imagination and musicality are the only
things that can limit us."
Erzsi Kiss
Audio CD: Theodosii Spassov - Welkya (GD141)
Virtuoso Kaval player and accompaniment.
"Standing on the river bank, we saw the river burning with the asphalt
which the factory was pouring out into it and we saw its waters dragging along
dead animals, roots, and waste. ... Eventually there appeared a huge radio box
and when we took it out of the water and got to breaking up the loot it
contained, a welkya* bone, a light bulb in pieces, a mud-congested bottle, and
the stole the priest from the church nearby - all those signs that had predicted
the life to come. The bone meant death; the broken bulb, darkness; the grimy
bottle, a servitude of spirit; and the priest's stole. A lack of faith. The
radio box itself, the bird's deathbed, might well have been a symbol of man's
music in those times of nightmares - songs were coming out of his mouth, yet
only curses reached our ears."
*welkya - night tawny owl

Zoran Simjanovic has written and arranged music for Yugoslavian feature films
and television for over 20 years. In that time he has incorporated into his
musical scores folk themes, many of which are collected here in this

Audio CD: Kati Szvorak - Athallasok, Interferences, Hungarian folksong variants (HCD18269)

the violoncello and compose their own music.
Audio CD: Didier François and Marco Ambrosini - Bela Bartok, 44 Duets for Violin on the Nyckelharpa (WBM21022)
Marco Ambrosini and Didier Francois are both active in the
classical as well as the traditional field. By performing these classical
compositions based on traditional melodies- on a traditional instrument (the
nyckelharpa), they wish to mix these two musical aspects even more. The
nyckelharpa is a violin-related stringed instrument with a keyboard, especially
known for Swedish music. Even though they follow Bartok and the
Hungarian tradition as far as interpretation and style are concerned, Marco
and Didier wish to approach this music in a non-conventional way.

Taking eight members of a street gang into the studio to produce a Latin music

capture that New York Puerto Rican funk essence that was the Ghetto Brothers.
That what had taken seed in the Bronx was to produce 'Power- Fuerza' a heavy
slice of Bronx Latino funk!
